Out and about
Our domain Les 3Etangs is located in the village of Saint Gervais d'Auvergne in the Combrailles region. This cozy village is also seen as the capital of "Coeur de Combrailles". Here you will find a small Carrefour, a pharmacy and a large hall, "Halle des Coeur de Combraille", where flea markets, biomarkets and festivities are organized.
In Saint Gervais you can also grab a terrace or eat out. Every Monday morning there is a market and in the summer season there is an evening market on the Thursday (marché nocturne).
Sights in the Auvergne
The Auvergne is a volcanic area. You can see that in the many gorges through which the rivers meandering and where lakes find their place in craters. One of the best known volcanoes is the Puy de Dome. This is the highest of more than 80 volcanoes in the Chaîne des Puys and has been nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage List. Also beautiful is the meander of Queuille, the point where the Sioule decides to turn around and makes a beautiful loop. Our region "Les Combrailles" is a vast plateau with deeply cut valleys and gorges, dotted with ponds and small peaceful hamlets. Les Combraillles has a lot of water in the form of rivers, ponds and waterfalls. For example, Chateauneuf-les-Bains (a fifteen minute drive from Les 3Etangs) is a peaceful spa town on the Sioule River.
Markets in the area
There are numerous markets to visit during the high season. The standard weekly markets such as on Monday morning in our village, but also the real flea and flea markets and large markets with a fresh market with the most delicious products from the region. Every year a booklet is published with all markets per region per day. This can be viewed at the reception.
Cities in the Auvergne
Clermont-Ferrand, 50 km away
This is the city with its black cathedral built from lava rock. This student city is also the city where the famous Michelin tires are produced. Clermont-Ferrand has many small streets with cozy restaurants, shops and plenty of terraces in the summer.
Montluçon, 35 km away
This city has a center around the castle with old restored buildings. You will find many cozy restaurants and shops.
Riom, 30 km away
Riom has a beautiful old city center, restaurants and museums.
Neris les Bains, 28 km away
Neris les Bains is just before Montlucon. The city has, among other things, a spa, antiques and flea shops and a casino.
